ABOUT
The platform “Parthenope” was designed to create two multi-user, interactive virtual environments. The first, dedicated to the Women of Naples, tells the biographies of the protagonists who shaped the history and culture of the city of Naples with a perspective that embraces past, present, and future. The backdrop is the places where they lived and worked, leaving a profound and indelible mark thanks to their work.
The second with a specific focus on Frederick II and the Memory of Women, a virtual museum aimed at passing on the female figures who contributed to the development of a centuries-old history, that of the University of Naples, an instrument of social ascent and cultural elevation for generations of female students.
The aim is to promote knowledge of women's history, their cultural heritage, and Neapolitan feminisms. A participatory storytelling to convey the creativity, commitment, and generativity of women, to reflect on the role of women in the city of Naples and their legacy over the centuries and in today's society.
The platform was born from the collaboration between Phantasya Communication, creative agency specializing in innovative communication and the valorization of cultural heritage through advanced digital technologies with the Women Gender Training Laboratory - DGF and l’Observatory on Governance for Education in Cultural, Artistic and Landscape Heritage - OGEP3 Unina, both of the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Naples Federico II, the EVA Social Cooperative and the innovative start-up GRETA srl.
The project team draws on interdisciplinary expertise, combining art, technology, and inclusion to offer everyone an immersive, accessible, and engaging cultural experience.
PARTHENOPE: THE FEMALE HERITAGE OF NAPLES
Mission
The mission of ‘Parthenope’ is to promote and recount the cultural and historical contribution of women in the city of Naples, offering an innovative and accessible digital experience. Through advanced multimedia technologies, historical reconstructions and inclusive content, we want to break down physical and cultural barriers, promoting knowledge and active participation among a wide and diverse audience, with particular attention to the most vulnerable sections of society.
Vision
Let us imagine a society in which culture and history are tools for inclusion and growth for all, regardless of gender, age or ability. The Parthenope platform aspires to become an international benchmark for the promotion of female figures and digital cultural enjoyment, capable of combining technological innovation, scientific rigour and artistic sensitivity, creating a replicable model for other cultural realities.
Values
Inclusion, innovation and respect for diversity are at the heart of our work. We believe in the power of culture as a lever for social change and in technology as a means of making art accessible to all. We promote the appreciation of gender differences and the preservation of historical memory, working with passion, rigour and collaboration to build an authentic, sustainable project that is open to new ideas.
