Eva’s Buvette: It is a feat to say no to violence against women
13 October 2025EVA’S BUVETTE AT THE SAN FERDINANDO THEATER IN NAPLES. THE WORK THAT DEMONSTRATES HOW VIOLENCE CAN BE OVERCOME
Inaugurated on Monday 18 December, EVA’s Buvette at the San Ferdinando Theater in Naples, the second café created by the EVA social cooperative “to show, in the beauty of a space like this theatre, that violence can be overcome and other women encouraged to take the first step to leave abuse and mistreatment behind by turning to an anti-violence centre”, said Daniela Santarpia, president of EVA.
In La Buvette di EVA, already open for a year in the Mercadante Theater and active from next December 21st on the occasion of the shows at the San Ferdinando Theatre, women who have been victims of violence work, but who thanks to the support of the operators of the 5 anti-violence centers managed by EVA in Campania, and sometimes even after a reception in one of the 3 refuge houses, they have embarked on a path towards full autonomy.
“Stable work is essential to prevent and combat violence: it means not depending on your partner, which makes it much more difficult to stop the violence. The Teatro di Napoli –National Theatre, with which we have collaborated for over a year with great satisfaction, has understood this very well, supporting us with great care in this new entrepreneurial development”, added Santarpia.
For Stefania Brancaccio, deputy vice-president of the Theater of Naples – National Theater directed by Roberto Andò, “the collaboration with the EVA cooperative is the confirmation of a commitment alongside the women who as a theater we want to assume with ever greater strength, but who are part of our DNA, and recognition of the great strength and determination of the women who will work here”.
The inauguration was addressed by the Senator Valeria Valente (PD), former president of the Senate Commission of Inquiry into Femicide in the last legislature, underlined “how important it is for institutions, particularly when it comes to intervening on violence against women, to listen to those who work in the field, like the EVA cooperative, with the great expertise that we see expressed in this new initiative and the investment in the economic autonomy of women, in whose direction also goes our recent amendment to the financial which increases the funds to provisions recently approved in the budget”.
The FUna Niente Centomila wave also contributed to the inauguration, on whose behalf it took the floor Lella Palladino, founder and vice president, who was also among the founders of the EVA social cooperative in 1999: “The Foundation was created to support the work of anti-violence centers, recognizing their essential role in preventing and combating violence. And then we want to catalyze the energies of the world of culture, entertainment and art to help promote the cultural change necessary to truly prevent and combat male violence against women”.
A commitment that resonated in the words of Lucariello, who in his latest show gave a new look to Carmen by Bizet, of which he gave an essay to the audience who spoke at San Ferdinando: “I am the representative of a category, that of rap artists often accused of contributing to violence. But, without imposing dangerous and sterile censorship, we can find alternative inspirations to tell how we can be different men today”.
The staging of EVA’s La Buvette was created by Roberto Pantè, creative director of Phantasya, with the financial support of Con il Sud Foundation thanks to the project;ROSE, Networks for Employment, Health and Empowerment of Women, born from a co-design with the social cooperative EVA.
